Experience Art First Hand!
Self-Guided Studio Tour — Free Admission

It's our 11th year!
The Artist Open Studios signs have been gracing the roads of the still untamed northwest corner of Rhode Island for over 10 years now. We all love it here — tucked into the landscape — working in old barns, new barns and custom-built studio spaces. We're stretched along winding paved and sometimes unpaved roads encompassing Foster, Glocester, Scituate, North Scituate, and Sterling, Connecticut.

But it gets a little lonely without an audience, which is why we throw open the doors of our studios every year and invite you to learn about wheel-thrown pottery, glassblowing, stone carving, watercolor, oil painting and charcoal drawing. There are as many styles and concepts as there are mediums, which means there is something for everyone within reach of a comfortable drive.

Our Open Studio event focuses on the creative act of making and sharing, where artists and non-artists come together over works in progress and demonstrations where you can try your hand at the medium. The only entry requirements are an inquisitive nature, a curiosity about the medium, and a lack of inhibition over getting your hands dirty.

And just so you don't pass out from hunger in the middle of the tour, two of our sponsors — Bentley's Tavern on Rte. 6 and Corner Bistro on Rte. 101 will be open for lunch, with a sampling of participants' work gracing the walls of Corner Bistro from September 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012.

Stay tuned for more information as our plans for the day take shape.

Thanks and hope to see you!
